A year and a half ago Anne came up with a design solution that she hoped would help pensioners be able to stay in their homes longer.
Many pensioners bought their homes as an investment for their retirement years, and for some those years crept up far too quickly, they just aren’t ready to leave. In the G.T.A there is another problem, not enough affordable housing and an issue with a lack of space; there is a condo boom, but most are tiny and poorly made and located in big bustling centers.
Anne thought what if we took existing homes and converted underused spaces into opportunities for revenue, and community building? Out of this question, Petitsuite was born.
This bungalow in Etobicoke is beautifully divided into three living areas. The upstairs is for the homeowner and has three bedrooms and one bathroom, the basement is a large beautiful 1100 sq ft one bedroom apartment filled with natural light, and the garage has been converted into this charming 518sq ft suite.
This is what the garage looked like before we started the renovation, a typical mid-century Canadian bungalow with attached garage, filled with junk.
The Lovely garage conversion…

It’s surprising how much furniture can fit in such a small space. Keeping it light and using lots of glass creates the feeling of space.
